“I wanted to show different scenarios of people going through hard things,” Archuleta said. “‘Postcards in the Sky’ was inspired by a story of a girl who lost her mom and little brother in a car accident. In the funeral they released balloons with messages/memories on them, symbolizing that it’d reach wherever they may be now that they’re gone. I felt like we need to do that more often. Let out our ‘postcards’ into the world. Our voices, our words can make a difference. We don’t know whose life it will change, but most likely it’s our own life that’s changed by it. That’s how it’s been for me.”
In 2008, more than 30 million television viewers cast 44 million votes and made him runner-up in “American Idol’s” seventh season.
His first single “Crush,” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the week of its release.
Three months later, Archuleta’s self-titled album, “David Archuleta,” went gold – selling more than 750,000 copies in the U.S., and more than 900,000 worldwide.
Archuleta has one more show coming up in the Central Valley.
On Friday, he’ll play The State Theatre in Modesto.
Tickets for that show are available here.
