HANFORD — Main Street Hanford is hosting the first ever Night in the Country Music Festival in downtown Hanford.
The free country music festival will take place from 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. on Friday, April 26, in Civic Park, with live music on the Civic Auditorium steps.
“We aren’t in the south, but Hanford is the real country and that’s why we are calling this music festival, Night in the Country,” said Michelle Brown, executive director of Main Street Hanford. “We love bringing free concerts to downtown Hanford. We have the most beautiful park in the valley, the more community events we have, the better.”
Headlining the show is Orange County’s favorite Country band, Arnie Newman and the Country Club. Arnie Newman and the Country Club was recently recognized by Inland Empire Magazine as “Best Local Band in Orange Country.”
The band’s members have performed with some of music’s best, including Reba McIntire, Trace Atkins, Shenandoah, Johnny Lee, Pam Tillis, Wayne Brady and more. They will bring that same professionalism and experience to downtown Hanford.
Also performing at Night in the Country is local favorite JJ Brown, a U.S. Navy Veteran and Country Singer/Songwriter. He has shared the stage with recording artists including Clint Black, Kevin Costner, Peter Frampton, the Doobie Brothers and many more. His lyrics tell stories of life in the military, love, and empowerment.
82 Deluxe, a Central Valley California-based band that performs Honky-Tonk Country/Rock music since 2009, will be opening the show at 6 p.m. Members of their band have shared the stage with various recording artists such as The Marshall Tucker Band, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and more. Song lists include favorites from various artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Paycheck, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr., Johnny Cash and many more.
Make sure to bring out your lawn chairs and blankets for a night of music under the stars. The show is open to all ages.
Main Street Hanford will have several food options available including Chicken Shack, Fatte Albert’s Pizza and Oree’s Fine Southern Cuisine. Beer and wine will be served in the Budweiser Beer Garden.
Brown said she and her team decided to add the event late last year after their 18th Annual Blues & Roots Festival. Night in the Country will be set up similar to that famous event, offering Country music instead of Blues.
“We could not host these free concerts without the support of our sponsors.” Brown said, adding that without the support of Hanford Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and various local businesses, this concert would not be possible.
