How to watch Grey’s Anatomy in the UK, US and abroad

Originally debuting on ABC in 2005, Grey’s Anatomy follows a group of medical interns as they juggle their unpredictable, and often scary, careers with life outside of the hospital.

The show, created by Shonda Rhimes, won the 2007 Golden Globe for Best Drama and has earned a number of Emmy Award nominations over the years.

When Grey’s Anatomy first premiered nearly 15 years ago, many of its cast were practically unknown, but the show is largely responsible for sky-rocketing many of their careers.Famous faces like Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, Ellen Pompeo, Eric Dane and Patrick Dempsey all became household names after their first appeared on the show.

Apart from Pompeo, who is the show’s lead character, the rest of the aforementioned cast all left after the first few seasons and have gone on to achieve varying levels of success in movies and other TV series.

Grey’s Anatomy recently wrapped up its 15th season and has now been commissioned for two more. Given each season is roughly around 24 episodes, there’s plenty of drama, trauma, tears and laughs to get through the next few years.

Regardless of whether you’ve watched the show before, or you’re a seasoned fan looking to binge-watch the last few seasons in preparation for Season 16, we’ll tell you how to watch Grey’s Anatomy wherever you are in the world.

How to watch Grey’s Anatomy abroad

If you’re abroad and can’t access Grey’s Anatomy on either Amazon Prime Video or Netflix where you are, you’ll need to use a VPN to get your fix. A VPN is a piece of software that tricks your computer or mobile device into thinking that it’s in another country to the one it actually is by changing the IP address.

This means that you can access films, series and videos on streaming websites (like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix) that are geo-blocked in your region. To use a VPN, you’ll need to download the service on your device, change your location to either the US, Canada or UK (depending on what service you want to watch Grey’s Anatomy on), then log into your Netflix or Amazon Prime account.

There are lots of VPNs out there and deciding which one is the best value and also safe to use can be a nightmare. Luckily, we’ve tried and tested plenty of them, to ensure you can make an informed decision based on your needs. Apart from being two of the best VPN services in the world, both ExpressVPN and NordVPN give you access to Amazon Prime Video in the UK and US and Canadian Netflix.

ExpressVPN: Our all-time favourite VPN, which we’d highly recommend, is ExpressVPN. It’s the fastest VPN we’ve tested, comes with 24/7 support and has a strict policy against logging customer data. You can use it on five devices at the same time and its entire service has been audited by PwC to prove that your browsing data is never exposed to the service, your ISP or hackers.

NordVPN: Another great VPN we’d highly recommend is NordVPN. Its speeds aren’t as good as ExpressVPN but are on-par with others in the same price bracket. We also love the military-grade encryption NordVPN offers and gave it five stars in our review. You can use it on six devices at the same time, including PCs, mobile phones, routers and even gaming consoles.
