Last night’s Spice Girls: How Girl Power Changed Britain provided a welcome dose of nostalgia to fans of the group, but viewers couldn’t believe it when they spotted a young Davina McCall.

The three-part Channel 4 documentary series is celebrating 25 years since the formation of one of the biggest girl groups of all time.

It went right back to the beginning to where it all began, showing how the five young stars were put together.

But fans noticed another very familiar face when it was revealed how Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham were scouted for the group.

The pair were spotted during auditions for the Tank Girl film, which was also attended by then future Big Brother legend Davina.

Of course, it didn’t take long for those at home to realise who it was, even with Davina sporting a much lighter hairdo than she’s known for now.

One viewer tweeted excitedly: ‘Wait hang on. Are we not discussing that DAVINA MCCALL was in that auditorium too? #spicegirls #channel4.’

Another said: ‘Oh wow! #SpiceGirls doc on Channel Four. Actual audition line-ups for the 95 Tank Girl film – featuring Davina McCall, Miranda Sawyer and Geri and Victoria! Geri with her hair like Bjork!’

‘Did not expect to see Davina McCall in the Spice Girls documentary #HowGirlPowerChangedBritain #SpiceGirls, commented a third.

‘So Davina McCall @ThisisDavina could have been in the #SpiceGirls then, if things had gone differently,’ tweeted another user, alongside two snaps of Davina from the documentary.

This even drew the attention of Davina herself who was clearly not expecting to see the footage resurface, asking the user where the snaps posted online were from.

‘You were In an audition for Tank Girl with Victoria Beckham and @GeriHalliwell , where they were spotted to join the @spicegirls If only hey #SpiceGirls #Spice25,’ the same user explained.

She even teased what her nickname could have been if she had ended up in the girl group.

‘For the record, I would have made a great Spice Girl. What would have been? Naughty Spice,’ Davina joked.

The TV host wasn’t the only face at the audition, with journalist and broadcaster Miranda Sawyer having also attended.

Spice Girls: How Girl Power Changed Britain continues Tuesday at 9:30pm on Channel 4.
