Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder after a five-year-old girl was found dead in Ealing.

The woman, who is known to the victim, was taken away by officers after emergency services were called to a property in Leyborne Avenue at 12.56pm on Tuesday following concerns for the welfare of the occupants.

Police and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found the body of the girl inside the property, located in the Northfields area of Ealing.

Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody.

Police confirmed the woman and girl were known to each other.

The girl’s family has been made aware of her death, according to police.

A post-mortem will be held in due course
