A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a young girl was found dead in a house in west London.
The suspect, 31, is believed to have been known to the girl who was just five years old.
Met police officers were called to Leyborne Avenue in Ealing just before 1pm on Tuesday after concerns were raised for the little girl’s welfare.
The girl was found inside the house and officers and an ambulance crew tried to save her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family has been told and a post-mortem is set to be held in due course.
Photos from the scene showed a large cordon in place this morning around a house on the residential street.
The female suspect has been taken into custody and enquiries are continuing.
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.
